Did it:
Jamie - I hear you on that one, Elena. I am actually re-writing my entire novel right now. Blank page with a few things copied in that still fit. I have changed the voice I'm writing in - first person to third person - and cut down the amount of characters that even get to speak. Some days I feel like it is an exercise in futility. Really, 12 drafts? Today is an exercise in futility day.
Kyle - I'm in the same boat too! Rewriting everything from first to third person. Bleh! At least I was only partway through the book before deciding to change. And of course the last few weeks have been crazy, so I've accomplished nothing.
Elena - hah! I usually rewrite from third to first. But sometimes a view-point change magically fixes everything. And causes a whole new set of problems. Don't let me discourage you or anything, Kyle and Jamie. And only 12 drafts, Jamie? Just kidding. But if it needs it...? Hate those days. Today I was able to face what I couldn't yesterday and actually finished rewriting that section. Sometimes I think I just need more sleep.

Elena - I'm on complete overhaul number three of this thing. I keep cutting--and, unfortunately, adding. It never shrinks to the size it needs to be, just changes shape.
And I'm at the point where the more I work through this book, the more I still see how much there is to do. And it makes me feel tired. But still determined. And also strangely invigorated. Sigh. I had no idea when I wrote my other books how much more work I should have done on each of them before sending them out into the world. Thank goodness they never got published!
