Book Contract?

So, after working on "Bearskin" foooorrrreevvveerrr, and submitting to agents also foooorreeevvveerr, I decided I would submit to a few small publishers on my own. I hadn't done that since my first novel - which, of course, I submitted to everyone and their dog. But I have always really believed in "Bearskin" and since the agents wouldn't even read it, I knew I had to give it a chance anyway. This week I received an offer for publication from Cedar Fort publishing in Utah. The whole thing is completely surreal and has made me unable to think any cognizant thoughts. Of course, it is so nice to have someone read my novel and think it's lovely. And it is also wonderful to have a beginning to the publishing journey. It's also very strange to talk about my writing out-loud. In some ways, writing is my "secret" hobby. People know I do it, and my writing friends read my work, but other than that it's something I keep mostly to myself. Now, I will have to talk about my writing all over the internet. I'm not sure how I'll do at that :) I'm one of those introspective, quiet writers, you know? And so, I'm beginning by telling my friends. Whew. Somehow even that is hard :)

Revision

I got a revision request for an article I wrote. Writing is so funny! I should be excited, but instead I feel this flat inability to formulate a sentence. Finally, after a week, I've printed out the essay and the revision notes, and now I want to hit my head against a wall. I'm not even "sad" about being told to revise, it's not like I feel some sorrow at chopping up my baby. Honestly it's an essay I wrote fairly quickly and haven't thought of much sense. But I still can't seem to jump up into writing mode! Aaaaaahhhhh, writing angst.
