Jamie - I always think summer should be this productive period because I won't have to do school stuff. Hah!
Elena - Yeah, everyone home and everyone wanting something, right? I guess that's an argument for "you better do whatever you're going to do right now, because it's not going to get better later." Except that sometimes it does. Just not when you're expecting it.

Day 745
Did it:
Jamie - what are you doing to analyze, Elena? Outlining? Diagramming?
Elena - Oh, so tedious, but really helpful, too, actually. I think it's worth it. And I think ultimately it will save me revision time. I'm following Cheryl Klein's suggestion of going through scene by scene and numbering each (so they can be moved around, if needed) and listing things like the starting page, where and when it's set, point of view (just because mine jumps between two), the major players in the scene, what each wants at the beginning, a paragraph summary of the action and a one-sentence summary; emotional plot points; what change takes place in the scene; and any revision notes to myself as I run through this stuff.
I'm doing mine as a word document with bullet points for each. A spread sheet might be more helpful to some, but my brain freaks if things look too mathematical. Just the process of analyzing this way is probably the more important part.
